My wife and I have been the beneficiaries of a significant amount of kindness from friends and neighbors in our community for many months as my wife recovers from a serious illness. The support from our community has included many meals, car rides to and from hospitals, therapy sessions and doctors appointments, and assistance around our home for things we are used to doing for ourselves. This bouquet of tulips accompanied a recent meal that was unexpectedly offered by a friend. That it arrived close to my wife's birthday made the flowers all the more special.
To commemorate the enormous amount of kindness we have received over many months, I wanted to create an image that featured the bouquet of pink tulips set against a vivid backdrop that enhances their vibrant colors. This still life will always remind us of how lucky we have been to live in such a wonderful and giving community of people.
