The town of Wilton in southwest Connecticut has an annual tradition of marking the Christmas season in which residents set out luminaries along the street in front of their homes. Consisting of white paper bags with a little bit of sand in the bottom to hold the lit candle inside, the collective effort lent a festive and visually interesting trail of light along residential streets. It also spurred my photographic interest... After some experimentation with cars passing by, I managed to capture brake lights of a car slowing for the stop sign at the end of our street. A long exposure time rendered the lights of the receding car as red streaks but also retained the static road sign warning of the upcoming stop sign.
