Oddly, our National Park tour made a one-night stop in Las Vegas, as some of our fellow travelers were ending their trip with us and we would be moving on to Jackson, WY to pick ups some additional travelers. The overnight stop allowed us to see the city in full lighted color. While waiting for the famous fountain show at the Bellagio, we had a perfect view of several other casino / hotels on the opposite side of the Vegas Strip. Bally's brought back a dark memory for me as that was my temporary home during the week following 9/11. I was traveling on business that grim day, on a flight from Amarillo, TX to Salt Lake City, with a change in Las Vegas. My flight was in the air between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM EDT... while all hell broke loose on the east coast. I did not get home to NJ until late the following Saturday.
